“A Freemason, therefore, should be a man of honor and of conscience, preferring his duty to everything beside, even to his life; independent in his opinions, and of good morals, submissive to the laws, devoted to humanity, to his country, to his family; kind and indulgent to his brethren, friend of all virtuous men, and ready to assist his fellows by all means in his power.” -Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma p. 113 Brethren, You have honored me with your vote of confidence by electing me to be the Worshipful Master of our lodge for the 2012 year. I do not take this vote of trust lightly, and I make it my promise to all of you to uphold the values and tenets of being an upright and moral brother mason in leading the lodge for the upcoming year. I can not, however, be successful in my duties without active support from all of you, so I encourage all of you to get more involved with the lodge and our activities - learn ritual, participate and support our initiatives, provide mentoring and guidance to newly raised brothers, etc. We fail individually, but we can only succeed as The Lodge, by supporting and offering support to our brothers by the square of our profession. Over the previous year we have seen our Lodge transformed and continue seeing transformed in numerous and extremely positive ways. The changes that we have seen are not accidental - they are the results of tireless efforts of the 2011 Worshipful Master and his officer line and are nothing short of epic. My goal for the upcoming year is to continue this momentum by continuing existing efforts balanced between Masonic Education, Charity, Ritual, and Fellowship. This winter we will be initiating new members, hosting the Blue Lodge Council, as well as feature educational, fellowship and charitable programs for all members. We will also work with neighboring Lodges on joint Degrees and fellowship events. 2012 is also a very special year for our Lodge, the year when we celebrate our 250th anniversary. We have certainly come a long way from that fateful day, March 21, 1762, when twelve men, some traveling as far as 40 miles on horseback to attend the Lodge, received and read a deputation from the Right Worshipful Jeremy Gridley, Esq., Provincial Grand Master of the Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons in North America to form them into a regular Lodge of Masons. The U.S. Declaration of Independence just 16 years away, it is a date that is both humbling and inspiring - the roots of our Lodge pre-date even the Country we all call home! This year will bring opportunities to both celebrate our lodge’s anniversary and reflect on the legacy we’ve inherited - a legacy we owe to future generations. It is my sincere honor to serve the lodge as Master the upcoming year, and I thank brothers for the opportunity. I look forward to serving the lodge for the betterment of the Fraternity. Warm Fraternal Regards, Eugene Meltser, Worshipful Master
