Brethren, It is an honor having been elected by the Brethren of Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge No. 4, A.F & A.M. to serve as Worshipful Master for 2011. In return for that great honor I promise to perform the duties of this esteemed position to the utmost of my ability. It is my great desire to help make our Lodge the best that it can be. I will not be acting alone, for there is a most impressive line of officers accompanying me. Such a strong line of worthy and dependable Brothers ensures the continued success of our Lodge for many years to come. Worshipful Master, John L. Forlenza-Bailey has presided over a successful year. The Lodge we inherit from him is strong and vibrant, due to his diligent efforts. For that he is deserving of our gratitude, as are all of the Past Masters who have preceded him, each a firm stone in the Masonic foundation of Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge No. 4, A.F & A.M. You are invited, Brother, to attend the many events we will be holding throughout 2011. Our focus for this year will be the Three Tenets of Masonry: Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Brotherly Love is reflected in the many Fellowship activities we have planned throughout the year. Relief will be prominent in our charitable endeavors for 2011. Truth is a component of the numerous educational initiatives we will undertake, from mentoring of new Brothers to Lodges of Instruction that will enrich the Masonic Knowledge of all. Looking forward to 2011 and the many great years that will follow calls to mind the Builder poem from the Long Form Master Mason Degree Working Tools lecture. In it the Old Builder explains that he has built a bridge, not for himself, but for a youth who at some later time must try to cross the perilous chasm. We collectively, the Brethren of Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge 4, are the Builder and we are building a strong and vibrant Lodge; the bridge that will carry many good men along on their journey towards obtaining perfection. In so doing we are helped along on our own individual journeys towards perfection. Whether our Lodge is successful depends upon your participation in our labors and privileges. The honor of Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge and of our august fraternity is in your keeping. Warm Fraternal Regards, Justin A. Duffy Worshipful Master Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge No. 4, A.F & A.M.
