Master's Message - Fall 2011
Written by Justin Duffy

If you want to know where the future of Freemasonry will grow and prosper it's simple; in the heart, in your heart, in my heart, and in the hearts of those who follow us.”
Brother Conrad Hahn, Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Connecticut (1957)

Brethren,

I am writing this message at the half way point of what has been a very dynamic and exciting first half of 2011. It has served to remind us of the great Masonic teaching that it is not given to man to attain perfection in this life; he can but strive for it. It is in so striving that we are found to be true to the trying of the square of our profession. We will continue to so strive because that is what Masons do. We create for ourselves a new world in which to live by applying the working tools of our Craft to make subtle improvements.

In looking back over the year thus far, one word sums it up perfectly: Zeitgeist. It is a German word that translates to “Spirit of the Age”. We, as a Lodge, have been at the forefront of a wave of change that is sweeping over our Fraternity! We have looked to our ancient roots and applied the beautiful teachings of our fraternity by modern means. We will continue to do so as our Lodge continues to prosper. Our progressive line is filled with dedicated Brother who will become the Lodge leaders of tomorrow, thereby ensuring a bright future.

The Fall schedule outlined in this Trestleboard continues our dedication to the great and good work of Masonry. We can look forward to Degrees that will bring more good men to the door of our Lodge, and teach them to honor and apply the Masonic tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. We'll feature educational and fellowship programs to benefit all Lodge members. We will sponsor charitable endeavors for the betterment of the world in which we live, for by helping others we improve ourselves in Masonry.

It has been and continues to be a great honor to serve Wyllys – St. John's Lodge No. 4 as Master for 2011. I thank my Brothers for this amazing opportunity and promise to continue to do my utmost for betterment of our Lodge and the honor of our Fraternity.

Warm Fraternal Regards,

Justin A. Duffy
Worshipful Master
Wyllys – Saint John's Lodge No. 4, A.F & A.M.
