 Wyllys- Saint John's Lodge No. 4 A.F. & A.M. started off 2011 by hosting a Lodge of Instruction on Monday, January 3 2011. The topic being presented and discussed that evening was Freemasonry and the Qabalah. The presentation was given by Worshipful Brother Chuck 2.0 Landau, Worshipful Master of the Philosophic Lodge of Research. Worshipful Brother Landau, a Research Member and Worshipful Master Elect of the Philosophic Lodge of Research, has been teaching the Jewish Wisdom of the Qabalah for thirty years, specializing in the Tree of Life and Middle Pillar meditation. His 2006 paper The Twin Pillars of Masonry provided the structure for a wide ranging lecture on Jewish Mysticism in Freemasonry. The presentation began with prayer, then different aspects of Qabalah were delineated: the role of the Hebrew letters, the map of G-d's interaction with the World known as The Tree of Life, visions of Ezekiel and Isaiah, study of the Bible and related books, ecstatic chanting and charity. Various aspects of the Lodge room, furniture and ritual will then explained with reference to these studies, history and the Bible. The kosher dinner that followed provided further opportunity for questions and answers with Worshipful Brother Landau. This was the first event in our continuing Masonic Education series, which continues on February 21 with the presentation of the Master Mason Second Section Lecture along with a presentation on Brother George Washington by Lodge Historian Carl R. Johnson. In April we will host Gentleman's Night and PLR's most recent Past Master, WB Martin Ede, will be our guest presenter in May for a program on the Rosicrucians (May 16).
